Sustainability
Señorío de Montanera has a deep commitment to environmental responsibility ingrained in its DNA. We demonstrate our commitment to environmental sustainability every day by caring for and protecting the pastures where our Iberian pigs have been raised for generations.
Organic Iberian products
True to our commitment to the conservation of the dehesa and environmental sustainability, we have launched an exclusive line of organic products as part of our research and development strategy for healthier and more natural products.
Elaboration 100% natural
Señorío de Montanera organic ham and sausages come from organic farming and livestock farming, based on 100% natural resources that help preserve the environment and result in an exceptional product free of nitrites and nitrates.
Furthermore, organic Iberian products are produced on a line separated in time and space from other traditional Iberian products. This manufacturing process is certified organic with zero genetically modified organism residue.
Therefore, Señorío de Montanera organic Iberian products contain no artificial additives or preservatives and are duly labeled with the European Union organic logo.
Certified pastures
Organic Iberian pigs are raised free-range in certified organic pastures and fed acorns, natural grasses, and other organic foods.
These farms are completely separate from regular farms to ensure 100% organic production. And, during the time when there are no acorns or grass in the pasture, in late spring and throughout the summer, our Iberian pigs are fed organic feed.
Carbon footprint
The protection and maintenance of this unique ecosystem is part of our natural legacy. Therefore, we have decided to strengthen and formalize this commitment by calculating our Carbon Footprint, with the goal of improving the organization's environmental impact.
Commitment to the environment
Becoming a sustainable company is not enough to implement certain individual practices or sustainability measures. This process must be part of the company's overall strategy and duly accredited according to the relevant international standards.
To this end, Señorío de Montanera has turned to a certification company with experience in the highest international environmental standards to assess its performance in terms of emissions from an external and independent perspective.
Bureau Veritas has thus verified that the Carbon Footprint of the Extremadura-based company Señorío de Montanera complies with the ISO 14064 calculation standard.
Traceability of emissions
To calculate the carbon footprint using the methodologies established in ISO 14064, all sources related to the organization, both directly and indirectly, that are likely to generate GHGs must be identified.
To achieve this, it is necessary to take into account the emissions associated with slaughterhouse, drying, and office activities, including direct and indirect emissions from imported energy, transportation, products used, and waste management.
